What managing several accounts really takes
Running more than one social account is four jobs repeated on every network: writing posts, getting them out on time, answering the comments and messages that come back, and checking what worked. The time goes on switching between apps for each of those jobs, not on the jobs themselves.
So the fix is the same whichever tools you use: one place to write, one calendar, one inbox and one view of your numbers.
Free ways to manage multiple accounts
- Meta Business Suite runs a Facebook Page and an Instagram professional account together for free: posts, Stories, scheduling and one inbox for both. It only covers Meta's networks.
- Each app's account switcher. Instagram and X both let you add more than one account in the app and switch between them, which helps if you run, say, a personal and a business account on the same network.
- A shared calendar or spreadsheet to plan what goes where. It costs nothing, but every post still has to be put up by hand.
A weekly routine that keeps every account going
- Plan once a week. Pick three to five ideas and decide which networks each one suits.
- Write once, then adapt. Keep the idea, change the length and tone for each network. The character limits for every network tell you how much room each one gives you.
- Schedule the week in one sitting so nothing depends on remembering to post.
- Answer at set times. Two short slots a day for comments and messages beat checking six apps all day.
- Check the numbers monthly, the same way each time, and drop what isn't working.
How to keep each account sounding right
The same caption pasted everywhere reads like a broadcast. LinkedIn suits a longer, first-person post, X wants one sharp line, and Instagram needs the point before the "more" cut. Write the idea once, then give each network its own version, and keep the voice the same so people recognise you on all of them.
Managing your accounts with PersonaXpand
Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. It connects one account on each of eight networks (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, TikTok and Bluesky). You write a post once on your computer, get a version for each network, and schedule them together. Comments, DMs and mentions on Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and Threads are answered in your own voice, and on Bluesky it drafts replies for you to approve. Analytics for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky sit on one screen. See posting to every network at once.
Honest limit: it is one account per network, built for one person or one brand. If you look after several clients, each with their own Instagram, a team tool such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social is the better fit.
