Can you share a Threads post to Instagram?
Yes, to your Instagram Story. In February 2026 Threads added a way to share a post straight to your Story from inside the Threads app, with a preview of how it will look, and it works for your own posts and for other people's.
Older guides that say you can't share Threads posts to Instagram, or that you have to screenshot them, were written before that change.
How to share a Threads post to your Instagram Story
- 1. Open the post in the Threads app. It can be yours or someone else's public post.
- 2. Tap the share icon (the paper plane) under the post.
- 3. Choose the Instagram Story option. A preview of the Story appears inside Threads.
- 4. Adjust it if you want, then share it to your Story.
Going the other way: Instagram to Threads
When you share a post or Reel on Instagram, the final screen offers to share it to Threads too. Turn it on and the same content goes to both. It's quick, but it's the same caption and the same format on both, and Threads conversations tend to reward shorter, chattier text than an Instagram caption.
Post the same idea to Threads and Instagram, written for each
Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. Write the idea once, choose Threads, Instagram and any other networks you use, and each one gets its own version: under 500 characters and conversational for Threads, a fuller caption with up to five hashtags on Instagram. Post now or schedule it. See also how to schedule Threads posts.
When people reply on Threads or comment on Instagram, it drafts answers in your own voice for you to approve with a tap.
