Can you schedule posts on Bluesky?
Not inside Bluesky itself. The Bluesky app posts right away; there is no option to pick a later time, and while a scheduler has been requested on Bluesky's public issue tracker, it hasn't been announced. Scheduling is done with an outside tool that publishes through Bluesky's open protocol at the time you choose.
Connect safely: never hand over your main password
There are two safe ways for a tool to connect to Bluesky. The newer one is Bluesky's own sign-in: the tool sends you to a Bluesky page, you approve access there, and the tool never sees your password. The older one is an app password, a separate password you create just for that tool and can revoke without changing your real one. If a tool asks for your main Bluesky password, don't use it.
If a tool needs an app password, here's where to make one:
- 1. In Bluesky, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then App passwords.
- 2. Add a new app password and give it the tool's name. Leave direct-message access off unless the tool needs it.
- 3. Copy it into the tool together with your Bluesky handle. It's only shown once.
- 4. To cut a tool off later, delete its app password. Nothing else changes.
Writing for Bluesky
- 300 characters per post. Bluesky counts graphemes, so a combined emoji counts as one. Check with the character limits table.
- Links show as cards when you add them, so the text doesn't need to repeat the headline.
- Plain and human wins. Bluesky's crowd reacts badly to anything that reads like an ad.
- Same post on X? X counts every link as 23 characters, so a post that fits on Bluesky may not fit on X, and the reverse.
Schedule Bluesky with your other networks
Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. Bluesky is one of the eight networks it posts to, alongside Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok. You connect it through Bluesky's own sign-in page, so it never sees your password. Write the idea once, choose Bluesky and the others, and set the time; each network gets its own version, so the Bluesky one stays inside 300 characters.
When people reply on Bluesky, it drafts an answer in your own voice, and nothing is sent until you approve it. Bluesky replies always wait for your tap.
