Can you schedule posts on Threads?
Yes. Threads has a built-in scheduler. Meta started testing it in 2024 and rolled it out in the Threads app in January 2025, so any account can now pick a date and time for a post instead of sharing it right away.
If a guide tells you Threads has no scheduling and you need an outside tool to do it at all, it was written before that change. An outside tool is still useful, but for a different reason: planning Threads together with everything else you post.
How to schedule a Threads post in the app
- 1. Open Threads and start a new post.
- 2. Write the text and add any photos or video, exactly as you would for a post going out now.
- 3. Tap the three-dot menu at the top of the composer and choose Schedule.
- 4. Pick the date and time, then tap Schedule again to confirm.
- 5. To change or cancel it, open your drafts: scheduled posts are kept there and can be edited or deleted until they publish.
Where the built-in scheduler stops
For one post on one account it's all you need. It gets awkward as soon as Threads is one of several places you post:
- Threads only. The same idea still has to be posted again by hand on Instagram, X, LinkedIn and the rest.
- No week at a glance. Scheduled posts sit in drafts, not on a calendar, so it's hard to see what's going out when.
- It ends at publishing. When replies start coming in, you're back in the app answering each one yourself.
How to schedule Threads with your other networks
Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. You write the post once on your computer, choose Threads and any of the other networks you use (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Bluesky), and set the time. Each network gets a version that fits its own length and style, so the Threads one stays inside 500 characters while the LinkedIn one can run longer. At the time you picked, it publishes through Threads' official API.
The part the built-in scheduler can't do comes after: when people reply to your Threads post, PersonaXpand drafts an answer in your own voice for you to approve with a tap, or sends the routine ones on its own. It never guesses facts about your business, and anything sensitive is left for you. See how auto-reply works on Threads.
Tips for Threads posts that get replies
- One idea per post. Threads rewards short, conversational posts more than polished announcements.
- End with something to answer. A real question or a clear opinion brings replies; a link with no comment rarely does.
- Schedule for when your followers are around. General best-time charts are only a starting point; your own numbers are better. Try the best time to post planner.
- Be there for the first hour. Replies that arrive while a post is new keep it in front of people. Schedule for a time you can respond, or let auto-reply cover it.
- Check the length before it goes out. The Threads character counter shows where you stand against the 500 limit.
