Can you schedule posts in a Facebook group?
Yes, inside Facebook, if you're an admin or moderator of the group. What you can't do any more is schedule group posts from an outside tool: Meta shut down its Groups API on April 22, 2024, and since then no scheduler, Buffer, Hootsuite, ours or anyone else's, can publish to a group. Tools still advertising group posting were either written before that date or work in ways Meta doesn't approve.
How to schedule a group post
Only admins and moderators see the schedule option. Members post straight away. Facebook moves these buttons between updates, so look for the schedule icon rather than an exact position.
- On a computer: open the group, click Write something, write the post, then click the schedule (calendar or clock) icon near the Post button and choose the date and time.
- In the app: open the group, tap Write something, write the post, tap the three-dot menu in the composer, choose Schedule post, and set the time.
- To manage them: in the group's admin tools, open Scheduled posts to edit, reschedule or delete.
Be careful with group-posting extensions
Browser extensions that post to many groups at once do it by driving your logged-in Facebook session, not through any Meta-approved route. That's exactly the kind of activity Meta's spam systems look for, and the account at risk is yours.
What still works: your Facebook Page
Pages are still fully open to scheduling tools through Meta's official API. Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. It posts to Facebook Pages, not groups, along with Instagram and your other networks, and drafts public replies to the comments on your Page in your own voice. A common setup: schedule the main post on your Page, then share it into your group by hand. See how to schedule Facebook Reels.
