How many hashtags you can use now
Instagram said in December 2025 that captions for posts and Reels are moving to five hashtags, rolled out gradually. Its developer documentation still lists 30 for posts published through outside apps, so you may see either number for a while.
TikTok started showing a five-hashtag limit in its app in August 2025. It has not published the rule on its help pages, so treat five as the working number there too.
How Arabic hashtags are written
- No spaces: a hashtag ends at the first space, so #اليوم الوطني only tags the first word.
- Join the words with an underscore: #اليوم_الوطني #ريادة_الاعمال #صناعة_المحتوى
- Leave out the tashkeel: write the word the way people type it when they search.
- Pick one spelling: many words have two common spellings. Search both in the app and use the one your audience uses.

How to choose your five
- One for the place: your city or country, if your work is local.
- Two for the topic: what this post is about, not your field in general.
- One narrower: such as #مطاعم_الرياض instead of #مطاعم.
- One of your own: your brand or series name, so a follower can find every post in it.
Arabic, English or both
Use the language your audience searches in. If they read both, split the five: three in the language of the caption and two in the other. A hashtag in a language your followers do not search adds nothing.
