Can you schedule Reels on Instagram?
Yes, inside the Instagram app. Since March 1, 2026, every public account can schedule posts, carousels and Reels, including personal accounts. Before that, scheduling was only for professional (Business and Creator) accounts, which is why many guides still tell you to switch account type first. You no longer need to.
How to schedule a Reel in the Instagram app
- 1. Tap the plus and choose Reel. Record or pick your video and edit it as normal.
- 2. On the final screen, where you write the caption, open More options.
- 3. Turn on Schedule (it may read Schedule this post) and choose the date and time.
- 4. Go back and tap Schedule instead of Share.
- 5. To edit, reschedule or delete it, open Scheduled content from the menu on your profile.
Which accounts can schedule Reels?
The limits are the same for everyone: up to 75 days ahead and up to 25 scheduled posts a day.
- Public personal account: yes, in the app, since March 2026.
- Private account: no. The schedule option doesn't appear until the account is public.
- Business or Creator account: yes, in the app, and also from a computer through Meta Business Suite.
- Through a scheduling tool: needs a Business or Creator account, because outside tools publish through Instagram's API, which only works with professional accounts.
Where Instagram's scheduler stops
- No Stories. Stories still can't be scheduled in the app. See how to schedule Instagram Stories for the routes that work.
- Instagram only. The same video still has to be uploaded again to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook.
- On your phone. The in-app scheduler is built for the app, so a video edited on your computer has to make its way to your phone first.
Schedule one Reel to every network from your computer
Disclosure: PersonaXpand is our product. Upload the video once from your computer, pick Instagram plus TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook, and set the time. Each network gets its own caption, and the file is adjusted to Instagram's Reels format before it publishes through the official API. If you're not sure when to post, it can suggest a time from how your own past posts did.
And when the Reel goes live, it drafts replies to the comments in your own voice, for you to approve with a tap. It never guesses a price or a detail about your business; those comments are left for you.
Tips for scheduled Reels
- Keep it to 3 minutes or less if you want it shown to people who don't follow you yet.
- Schedule for when you can answer comments. The first hour of replies matters more than the exact minute it goes out.
- Batch a week at once, but check each scheduled Reel the day before: news and trends move.
- Use up to 5 hashtags. Instagram now caps posts and Reels at five; see the Instagram hashtag limit.
